Safety Week
Safety Week at Del E. Webb School of Construction is an opportunity to highlight the importance of safety in every aspect of the construction industry starting in the classroom.
Safety Week brings safety professionals into the construction classroom to emphasize safety in every aspect of a project. The event introduces safety as a career to students and demonstrates the various ways companies keep their employees safe. It also showcases the safety equipment available.
Safety Week culminates with the annual Safety Days and the DEWSC Vesting Ceremony, during which incoming students receive their own personal protective equipment (PPE). This sets a safety standard as they begin their academic career at ASU and provides needed equipment to attend site visits and tours with their classes.
In addition to targeted safety messages in our academic courses, we offer several low-cost events open to the public.
Safety Week 2020
Safety Week is held in October of each year. Plans have yet to be finalized for Safety Week 2020. Check back for details this fall, and meanwhile take a look a typical line up of Safety Week events.
Workshops
Safety workshops are offered for construction industry professionals at all levels, including managers and executives. Workshops cover strategies for promoting and implementing safety at all levels of an organization, and specific OSHA courses, such as Managing Excavation Hazards.
Safety Days and Vesting Ceremony
This annual event is how we welcome the Freshman class of construction students. Each receives their personal protective equipment. Following the vesting ceremony, students and industry professionals are invited to stay and spend time networking.
